Foreword by Carol May
I have been fascinated with food for many years and not always in a positive way. Before I qualified in nutrition (I qualified in 2003) my weight had fluctuated dramatically, I felt tired and irritable at times and had a 5 year battle with depression. Snacking throughout the day on unhealthy food, eating a large main meal in the evening and occasionally drinking too much alcohol only compounded the problem and my hormones were seriously out of balance. I was miserable, didn’t know how to get better and felt that the doctor was unable to fully understand my condition in order to support me effectively.
I made a decision; I wanted to look and feel better but lacked the knowledge and motivation to succeed. I changed my job and studied nutrition. Since qualifying I have learnt to respect the power of good nutrition. You really are what you eat and beauty comes from within; what you eat today you will wear on your face tomorrow; have you ever looked closely in the mirror after a heavy indulgent late night? Equally, if you eat plenty of healthy natural food and drink you will look refreshed and radiant. My weight has stabilised, I have improved energy levels, I sleep better, I’m much happier and my skin is clearer and softer.
It is possible to enjoy huge beneficial improvements both mentally and physically with the right health and nutritional changes. I took that first step to make a real positive change and now we guide, encourage and support clients to do the same.
Read our testimonials and see how some of our clients have responded to a tailor-made diet and nutritional programme.
Let food be your medicine + Medicine be your food!
Examples: Have you ever felt ill after eating a meal? Maybe you have an allergy or intolerance or perhaps you are over loading your system with the wrong food combining methods; how do you feel after eating a traditional Sunday lunch where food combining is out of balance? Food is a science and if you combine incorrectly it can leave you feeling very sluggish.
Did you know that a diet high in acid forming foods can result in a range of illnesses? Acidic foods can exacerbate arthritis and cause a range of digestive disturbances and other poor health related conditions.
In contrast alkaline forming foods can facilitate healing and eliminate many aches and pains. For example: Eating foods from the nightshade family such as tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines and peppers can exacerbate the production of uric acid in the joints resulting in pain and stiffness.
Mood swings: Some foods can have a positive effect on the hormone serotonin-the feel good hormone- foods such as avocado, bananas and cottage cheese. Our clients have benefited from supplements such as 5HTP and Nutri Adrenal Extra or the herbal version Adreset or Adrenomax in cases of depression, stress and low energy levels.
Have you suffered congestion or sinus problems? Simply eliminating mucous forming foods such as dairy (milk, cheese and yoghurts)
and Oats can help to alleviate this problem particularly when supported with ear candle therapy.
Benefit from our support and expertise. We can help you to help yourself in bridging any nutritional gaps.
